10th February 2016: Al Shabaab terrorists kidnapped a Muslim Cleric in Jameo Mubarak Town Buulo-Burde district late Tuesday night. The militants later beheaded the preacher in an attack that target the preacher and his son who managed to escape.
The slain preacher has been identified as Sheikh Abdullahi Sheikh Abdiaziz and he and his son had been placed under the al Shabaab radar.
Despite the fact that the reasons surrounding the brutal beheading are unclear, the militants are known to go after preachers they deem ‘westernized’ and or seeming to interfere with their agenda and extreme doctrines.
Local security officers are looking into the incident as they seek to identify the circumstance of the beheading and bring the perpetrators to book.
