The fight against the deadly Nigeria-based Boko Haram receive a major boost after donors at the African Union Summit in Addis Ababa pledge money to the tunes of $250 million to fight the insurgents.
The donation comes at a time when Boko Haram has orchestrated deadly attacks in the neighboring Niger, Chad and Cameroon in the past months since the deployment of multi-national joint task force.

The fight against Boko Haram received a major boost in the recently concluded AU Summit where donors pledged money to fight the insurgency that amounted to $250 million. Boko Haram have terrorized civilians in Nigeria (its place of origin) and in the recent months in the neighboring countries like Niger, Chad and Cameroon.
The Multi-national joint task force that was deployed to fight the insurgency has made significant gains with majority of its major suppliers arrested and route barricaded by the security forces. However, Boko Haram still has control over areas that are difficult to access, the funds will aid in maneuvering those areas.
Donations came from the European Union, Britain and Switzerland with AU Peace and Security Council chief Smail Chergui urging the donors to pay to assert the seriousness of fight the militants who pledged allegiance to the Islamic State Takfiri.
