28th January, 2016: At least 8 al Shabaab militants were killed in a joint operation between the Somali National Army and the AMISOM troops in El-Bur district in Galgadud region.
A joint collaboration between SNA-AMISOM troops to set up security checkpoint in the Galgadud area is ongoing in the intensified fight sworn against the al Shabaab in Somalia.
Six of the militants were killed as they tried to barricade the security checkpoint while the othe two were killed as they tried to rescue their counterparts in El Magag area.
Al Shabaab militants are futilely trying to gain more control over already liberated in the area but their efforts have been met with ample preparedness from the forces inflicting major casualties on the al Shabaab militants.
Somali president and other AMISOM troop-contributing countries heads of state have retaliated to intensified and increased presence and operation against the al Shabaab.
