Muslims and Christians at Namayiba in Uganda have defied the sectarian stereotype after they came together to rebuild an 80-year old mosque in the area.
The project is being funded by Christians in an unlikely alliance that has been viewed by the residents as the ultimate unity for the absolute good of the Namayiba residents.

Africa as a continent has for the past few years been rocked by religious violence that has seen hundreds of people dead following inter-faith fighting. Some of the notable sectarian war is by the al Shabaab and Boko Haram Islamists as well as the war between Christian and Muslim militias in Central Africa.
Residents of Namayiba have however proved the inter-faith tension wrong with the Christians in the region donating funds to rebuild an 80-year old mosque that was at the risk of collapsing due to heavy rains in the area and volunteers coming together to set up the mosque.
According to residents of the area, most donations were made by Christians and are also the majority of the volunteers as they strive to achieve togetherness and unity despite their different religious beliefs.
Uganda just like her neighbor Kenya have been the targets of the Somali-based al Qaeda affiliate, al Shabaab which has created sectarian tensions and suspicion between Christians and muslims. Despite that, residents of Namayiba have established a reconciliatory development venture that is a good example to a people across all religions.
The unique alliance exhibited in Namayiba is a good example of Muslims that denounce extremism and religious violence as is preached by true Islam. Cases of Muslims and Christians coming together for the greater good are slowly becoming visible as people come together to fight the vice of terrorism.
