14th January, 2016: At least 9 al Shabaab militants were killed by government forces backed by AMISOM troops in Ciilshiil locality of Galgadud region.
The 9 militants were killed a gang of the jihadists attacked a military based and clashed with the government troops in a heavy gunfight that lasted hours. Following the clashes three government forces were wounded.
Galgadud has been under the Somali government troops alongside AMISOM troops-Ethiopian contingent with most attempts by the al Shabaab to recapture the region thwarted and heavy casualties inflicted on the jihadists.
