January 7, 2016: Ugandan police announced their interception a bomb in a bus station in the Northern District of Gulu. The bomb was discovered by travellers at the Gulu Bus Park in early morning hours of the week that raised alarm.
The operation was spearheaded by the Uganda Police Force in collaboration with the UPDF 4th Division who cordoned the area and detonated the device.
The East African Region in the wake of the New Year has renewed their alertness and vigilance with increased response time towards any and all reported cases of suspicious devices’ cuttings.
Uganda has been the target of the Somali based Al Qaeda branch, al Shabaab since the incursion of the Uganda Peoples Defence Forces(UPDF) into Somalia to shun off the militants in the joint AMISOM forces.
