The Turkish military has said it has slain 305 militants of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) during the surgical counter-terrorism operations in Turkey’s restive southeast in barely a month.
Two PKK militants on Tuesday were killed in Sur district of Diyarbakir Province and another four were slain in the town of Cizre on same day, Turkish General Staff said in a statement.
During the security raid in Cizre, a sizable amount of assault rifles and munitions was seized, and 21 improvised explosive devices were defused.
In addition, three PKK terrorists were killed on Tuesday in the Silopi district of Sirnak Province.
Turkey has been engaged in large-scale mop-up operations against the PKK militants in it southern border region.
Turkish military has also been conducting campaigns against PKK positions in northern Iraq.
Ankara military offensives began in the wake of a deadly July 20, 2015 bombing in the southern Turkish town of Suruc.
More than 30 people perished in the attack, which the Turkish government blamed on the Takfiri Daesh/ISIS/ISIL terrorist group.
