14th December 2015, African Union peacekeepers serving in Somalia under AMISOM, repulsed a group of armed militias who fired at Aden Adde airport in Sunday night raid.
Military reports reveal that the militias linked to Al Shabaab terrorist group attempted to attack Aden Adde international airport through a seaborne attack and were using speedboats mounted with machine guns besides rocket launchers.
The armed militias were engaged in fierce exchange of fire and when overpowered by AMISOM forces, the attackers retreated.
Though no group has commented on the night Sunday night at Aden Adde airport, the Al Qaeda branch in Somalia is known to target government officials and installations.
