OSINT SUMMARY
1st December 2015, Somalia National Army (SNA) backed by the African Union peacekeepers –AMISOM launched a major security offensive in Mahaas town and the surrounding areas of Hiiraan region killing more than ten Al Shabaab militants.
Confirming the operation Mohamed Mumin Saney, an officer of the government forces in the area said they had a joint security operation battling the militia men in the area.
“More than ten Al Shabaab militants died in the gun fight after trying to face off with our officers” said Mumin.
SNA forces supported by AMISOM troops have so far made significant gains dislodging Al Shabaab from most of the settlements under their control in Hiiraan region in the past one year.
