25th November 2015, Russia which was angered by downing of its fighter jet by Turkey on claims of the warplane violating Turkey’s airspace announced Tuesday that it will scale-up advanced air defense system to a Syrian port.
According to Haartz reports, the air defense system will be stationed at a Syrian port not far from the troubled country’s maritime border with Turkey.
In a briefing given by a top official in the Russian army on Tuesday night, Moscow announced plans to reinforce its air defense s in Syria.
Russia navy will be sending a cruiser the Moksva equipped with air defense systems. The S0300 air defense systems will be similar to the ones already stationed near Syria’s coastal city of Latakia, the army official added.
Lt. Gen. Sergei Rudskoy, Chief of the Main Operational Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces declared that all potentially dangerous targets will be neutralized and destroyed.
