Jubaland State President issued a Statement on the UN funded KDF report on illegal trade as fabricated and ill-intentioned.
The President has termed the claims that smuggling of sugar and charcoal to a tune of $400 million and funding of Al Shabaab militias as direct insult to him and that of his administration.
The report that was authored by a British citizen was in bad faith and failed to recognize the KDF role in sector 2 under the banner of African Union Mission in Somalia.
The Jubaland lauded KDF efforts in fighting the Al Shabaab and commitment in stabilizing Somalia and regional peace citing the force has remained professional since its entry into Somalia in 2011. Its presence in Jubaland has contributed to the peace and security we are enjoying he added.”
The report on KDF which contained several baseless claims came to the attention of the Defence CS Raychelle Omamo saying its one among similar other ill-intentioned accusations made previously that won’t deter the forces mandate.
Separately KDF spokesman David Obonyo dismissed the report, terming it as “garbage”adding “It is not correct and not factual.”

I have no doubt that KDF is absolutely a fantastic and committed force…. But the report is available to interrogate with facts not mere statements….. Even UN report suggested the same….the fact is Somali people are suffering and people are taking advantage of the vulnerable communities….
KDF does not need Somalian border to smuggle….. They can comfortably do it through our ports, so do not be fooled.the British government opted to send back their military cargo for soldiers than have it inspected, can you imagine why? Would you be more comfortable with shootouts in shopping malls and have shops shoplifted by same Kdfs/ university, church, bus etc attacks than sugar smuggling? After France terrorist attack we are waiting to see whether they will use water cannons to kill the attackers. The west called Kenya bedrock of terrorist attacks and issued travel advisory to tourists. Kenya army have at least managed to contain further attacks to innocent Kenyans by taking the war to their bases in Somalia and someone has the audacity to call them corrupt.
