13th November 2015, Somali’s National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) launched a massive joint operation with other government security forces in effort to hunt down militants behind the Wednesday botched attacks on Southwest State President, Sharif Hassan Sheikh Adan convoy.
The failed attack targeting a top government official is believed to have been orchestrated by the Al Qaeda affiliated Al Shabaab who rushed to their pro-media channels and posted propaganda claims of the attacks.
Somali intelligence service together with heavily armed government forces launched a manhunt clean-up operation along the Mohadishu-Afgooye road.
The military presence in armored personnel carriers conducted a major swoop and arrested many Al Shabaab suspects.
Gathered intelligence reports show that the militant had planted some explosives in advance while some other two vehicles packed full of explosives were supposed to ram into the convoy carrying Southwest State President, Sharif Hassan Sheikh Adan.
Southwest State leader together with security forces managed to escape the pre-planned suicide attack unharmed.
As usual, the Somali jihadist group was quick to claim exaggerated credit for the attack through their propaganda wing.
