At least 29 Daesh Takfiri militants were killed in an operation by the Afghan army as well as the infighting among the extremist members in troubled Nangarhar Province.
According to Afghan Police spokesman, On Wednesday 4th November, Afghan Soldiers launched intensified campaigns killing 28 Daesh militants in Achin district, some 150 kilometers east of the capital, Kabul.
The military offensives also saw another eight Daesh militants wounded, the spokesman added.
One militant died when a fierce exchange of gunfire broke out among the Daesh militants Wawishtama Wyala area of the province.
Nangarhar has in the recent month witnessed increased Daesh militants joining the group’s ranks.
The move prompted Taliban militant group to issue a warning statement to Daesh emir al-Samarrai aka Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi against what it termed as “waging a parallel insurgency in Afghanistan.”
Taliban leadership urged Daesh leader to keep his men out of Afghanistan and stop recruiting new members in the country.
Afghanistan has been gripped with militancy challenges for over 14 years since US and its allies invaded the nation in countering terrorism menace.
Despite offensives from US and its allies, many areas across Afghanistan still face violence, insecurity and militancy by Taliban and Daesh.
