Breaking OSINT reports indicate that hundreds of militants linked to Daesh (Islamic State) militant group are defecting massively to other jihadist terrorist organizations citing pay cut in their salary.
A credible source in Iraq’s capital Baghdad has revealed that Islamic State fighters have left recently in large numbers over complaints of receiving much less salary from what they were used to. The fighters are now are sourcing to join other terrorist groups in neighbouring Syria.
Daesh which is known to make money to financing its terrorist’s activities from drug trafficking, sale of oil, ransom from abductions and sale of antiquities is suffering fund inadequacies.
The Daesh maybe short of funds as the UN Security Council in February adopted a Russian-drafted resolution that was aimed at cutting funding sources to the Daesh, the al-Qaeda-affiliated al-Nusra Front based in Syria and other al-Qaeda-linked groups.
According to the resolution, countries were urged not to buy oil or antiquities from the terrorists as well as refrain from paying them ransoms.
Any country or individual who will act contrary to the resolutions was liable to face charges as accomplice(s) for terrorists.
Islamic State terrorist group has large control in Iraq and Syria and have extended their terror campaigns in other countries including Libya. Islamic State faces huge competition from parallel jihadist group, al-Nusra Front, an affiliate of Al Qaeda in Syria.
