Somalia’s South West administration on September 28 announced the deployment of newly trained South West Soldiers on a forward offensive against the Harakat al Shabaab al Mujahedeen in the Bay region.
The military operation will be geared towards driving the militants out of villages and territories they control in the region according to Hussein Mohamed Ali, deputy District Commissioner of Burhakaba.
The military offensive additionally will be very fundamental in clearing the Bay region paving way for the much needed humanitarian aid for the residents of the regions.
South West State of Somalia has been trying to rebuild some of the major facilities since its recapture of the al Shabaab militants with the Airport at Barawe and network roads in the state and linking it to the rest of Somalia.
The newly trained SW soldiers spearheading the offensive is progress towards the state soldiers achievement of their independence from the AMISOM troops and exercise their capability of defending the state’s territory.
