AMISOM troops battling out Al Shabaab, militants in Somalia, Hiraan region recorded major achievements after they pushed out dozens of militants from the region without much resistance.
Commander of the AU mission’s sector three Col. Areyte Humad Mohamed revealed that the forces will now embark on an operation to clear and open up the main road linking Beladweyn and Buuloburte and ensure security along that road.
Although they were cleared from major towns, Al Shabaab militants jeopardized transport and movement of people between Beladweyn and Buuloburte towns by launching ambushes along the roads.
AMISOM troops have changed their tactical approach to Al Shabaab militants after the militants adopted the hit and run strategy, targeting soft targets like travellers on roads before vanishing to their hideouts.
The forces are now taking the war to them and inflicting terrible losses to the militant group. This is through the ongoing operations in the country that target terrorist hideouts, aimed to wipe all the militants out of the areas they still control.
