KEY HIGHLIGHTS
20th September 2015, at least twenty senior leaders of Islamic State terrorist group were killed in aerial bombardment carried out by Iraqi’s air force in western province of Anbar.
While addressing the media channels, the president of the Khalidiya District Council, Ali Dawood confirmed the Sunday counter terrorism operations targeted a gathering of senior commanders of Islamic State held in a house in Khalidiya’s al-Bobali.
Khalidiya’s al-Bobali is situated about 23 kilometers east of the provincial capital Ramadi. The air force F-16 fighter jets bombings inflicted huge material damage belonging to the terrorist group.
According to intelligence gathered, the senior Islamic State leaders had converged here to plan on an attack during the festive sacrifice of Eid al-Adha which is a significant and important holiday in Islam calendar celebrated on September 24.
During the operation, five vehicles belonging to Islamic State fighters loaded with heavy ammunitions were also destroyed in the aerial bombardments near Husaybah town which is about 7 kilometers east of Ramadi.
SUMMARY
Western and northern parts of Iraq have been volatile plagued by violence from Islamic State terrorists who began intensive terror campaigns in Iraq from June 2014.
Islamic State militants have been commiting heinous atrocities against all religious ethnic across the divide in Iraq including Shias, Sunnis, Kurds, Christians among others.
As the war against Islamic State Takfiri gains momentum, Iraq army soldiers are determined to root out the militants and now they have received volunteer fighters, the joint operations expected to intensify in the coming days to win back the militant held regions.
