Members of Harakat al Shabaab Mujahideen have reportedly retreated from two areas near Diinsoor town in Bay region.
On Saturday 12th September 2015, large number of Al Shabaab militants vacated from the town and immediately Somali government troops took control. Al Shabaab may have made a tactical withdrawal in these two areas and thus the government troop remains on high alert, making regular patrols around the areas ready to counter any eventuality.
According South west administration officer Abdullahi Sheikh, Al Shabaab insurgents withdrew from their strongholds after government troops launched military operation against rebel held area in the town.
Somalia army backed by AU troops captured Yaqbarawe and Kanaane areas from Al Shabaab militants.
Diinsoor is another strategic town where Al Shabaab was driven out by Somalia forces, along with African Union troops in military offensive against militant held areas ending their reign of more than 7 years.
