
Saturday 12th September 2015, Somalia President Hassan Sheikh and his prime minster Omar Abdirashid Sharmarke attended inauguration ceremony of the Jubbaland leader Ahmed Madobe in the city of Kismayo.
This will be the second time for Ahmed Madobe to be inaugurated as the leader of Jubbaland in the presence of Somalia President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, representatives from IGAD, neighbouring countries Kenya and Ethiopia.
Also in attendance, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia Tedros Adhanom, UN envoy to Somalia Nick Kay, Galmudug and south west state leaders Abdikarin Guled and Sharif Hassan among the dignitaries at the high profile event held at Jubaland Presidential Palace in Kismayo.
Due to the presence of the high-level delegations, Kenya Defence Forces troops and local security forces in Kismayo jointly intensified security presence around Jubbaland’s Presidential palace.
Security forces increased the number of checkpoints and patrols ready to counter and foil any possible occurrence of Al Shabaab attacks which have been witnessed in the past few days.
