Violence in Darfur has so far killed close to 300,000 people and internally displaced over two million others in what is fuelled by tribal conflicts in the region, according to intelligence sources.
According to South Sudan authorities and OSINT reports, a recent attack as on Friday 17th 2015 left at least 100 people dead. Hundreds of others were left with serious injuries. Hundreds of people also lost their lives during a series of bloody tribal clashes between the Rizeigat and Maalia tribes around Darfur region last May.
South Sudan warring parties have both denied fuelling the recent hostilities. Darfur has been the scene of violence since 2003, when rebels took up arms against the government in Khartoum. Forces behind former South Sudan leader Riek Machar are fighting the government in a civil crisis that has been ongoing since 2003.
Analysis and Forecast
There has been a series of bloody tribal clashes between the Rizeigat and Maalia tribes around Darfur region. These happen in the disguise of the ongoing South Sudan civil crisis. So far, none of the warring forces have claimed to fuel the clashes.
South Sudan is likely to experience more tribal based clashes in the masquerade of civil rebellion in the country. The situation is likely to plunge the country into tribal hatred if the warring forces behind President Salva Kiir and rebel leader Riek Machar do not reach an agreement to end the on- going conflict.
