- Intelligence reports indicate that Luqman Issa, aka Shirwa, was the top commander of the sneaked Al Shabaab terror gang
- Luqman Issa reported to have been the leader behind the June 2014 Mpeketoni attack that claimed 60 people
- The foiled Lamu attack was to avenge the killing of the group’s external operations boss, Dan Garar
National Intelligence team working with the Kenya Defence Forces troops have changed their strategy of trailing members of Somali based group Harakat al-Shabaab al-Mujahideen deployed in Kenya and assigned to attack.
Throughout the month of May and June 2015, reports confirm that huge elements of the militia group were being tracked for over four months through high dimensional communication networks.
The reports indicated that as at 29th May 2015, security agents had details about Luqman Osman Issa and other terrorists who had crossed into Kenya sometimes in February.
Surveillance
Military surveillance team tracked Al Shabaab conversations, trailed their paths into Boni Forest where Luqman Issa, aka Shirwa, was the top commander of the sneaked terror gang.
Luqman Issa who is also reported to have been the leader behind the June 2014 Mpeketoni attack which killed 60 people was incharge of another attack to avenge the killing of the group’s external operations boss, Dan Garar.
Intelligence reports indicate that the militia in Boni Forest largely comprise of local militants from Coastal regions, including Mombasa, Lamu and Malindi who are well versed with the target region.
Further intelligence indicate that several terrorists attack infrastructures in Lamu have been pulled down and the police are continuing with the operation to abort more any possible terror attacks.
