Kenya Police is a body that has a mandate to enforce law and order in Kenya. The National Kenya Police Service is well organized at national level with each arm reporting to the County Police Authority. The County Police Authority in turn divides the force into local Police Divisions and headquartered at the local police stations.
The entire Kenya Police Service as an entity also report to the National Kenya Police Headquarters based in Nairobi where several elements such major police deployment, college affairs get their command directly.
Kenya Police Service has significantly reformed over the years, the introduction of the post of Inspector General of Police currently headed by Joseph Kipchirchir Boinett has mandate to oversee the Kenya Police force serve the country and live true to their slogan ‘Utumishi Kwa Wote’.

The Kenya Police Service which over the years was presumed sluggish in articulating their roles has significantly improved. There is visible and rapid change in the Kenya Police Service and particularly their strategic deployment and in responding to their duties.
With a new Inspector General of Police (IG Joseph Kipchirchir Boinett) in office, Kenya Police Service has become vigilante and slowly the bad name is fading away with members of the public earning their trust. There is also a major cooperation between the members of the public and the Kenya Police whereby people can report crime thus community policing is being fruitful.
In the first quarter of 2015, there the country has experienced security challenges; however rapt measures have been implemented with security being beefed in key hotspots in the country. Border patrols, more security deployment has been increased in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, Mombasa, Garissa, Mandera among other keys locations.
To increase police to citizen ratio, the government of Kenya recruits 10,000 police officers to join various training colleges every year.
