Guarding security in your hands is the surest way that one wins the battle in the real situation of terror.
And this could make the government’s move to introduce terror related courses in learning institutions more legitimate.
These courses, which universities and colleges all over Kenya will be affecting starting September with new intakes, are aimed to equip students with knowledge and skills when faced with attacks.
According to security agencies, the studies will encourage students to take security in their hands when they anticipate terror and also in the real attack. they will gather any information that could lead security personnel into identifying and combating any situations that could be terror related.
The notion of taking security in your hands is not a point out of the blues among the Kenyan public. In fact, during these year’s Labour Day celebrations, Kenya’s president Uhuru Kenyatta could not miss reminding all Kenyans how the thorny issue concerning security was a collective responsibility.

Taking security in your hands implies knowing who your neighbour is so that strangers do not come among Kenyans and have an easy day around carrying out their attacks.
President Kenyatta said that Kenyans should always raise an eyebrow whenever any new person moves in to stay close to them. This gives landlords an obligation of knowing who is occupying their premises and also having an insight in their conduct in case they note anything suggesting about them.
He stressed the fact that the enemy also lives among Kenyans, which calls for all Kenyans to be extremely vigilant.
When all parties are united in fighting terror, nothing comes in the way of winning the battle, especially when the public embraces the sole responsibility of guarding security firmly within their own grip.
It is also what a country’s security personnel can bank upon to pre-empt threats posed by terrorists when the public tips the former with information that could be treated with a lot of intelligence.
