Three suspected terrorists were arrested in Nanyuki after they attempted to gain access to a British Army Training Unit in Kenya (BATUK) headquartered in Laikipia county. The four were tracked down by local police and are being held on terrorism links. They were arrested at around 1700hrs near Nanyuki Police Station, a few meters from the BATUK army base.
According to local police in Nanyuki, the three appeared to be conducting surveillance on the British military base taking pictures where they were captured on the CCTV cameras at the base. The British side shared the pictures of the three who were tracked down by the local police and arrested.
The arrests come as a Somali-Canadian in Eastleigh area of the Capital was arrested after he was intercepted conducting surveillance (Covertly Photographing the Airbase from various directions) on KDF Air Force Base.
Kenya is on high alert as the Somalia-based Al Shabaab has seemingly launched a series of what appear to be coordinated assaults and recce operations on various camps in the country including Camp Simba in Lamu county.
