US Special Forces in Iraq Capture a Senior Islamic State Operative

MILITARY BRIEF

PENTAGON: 3rd March 2016, U.S. Special Operations Forces captured a suspected Islamic State operative in Iraqi, U.S. defense official revealed on Wednesday.

U.S. Special Forces were sent to carry out raids targeting high ranking Islamic State after gathering intelligence.

According to the defense source, the officials are interrogating the detainee for more leads on the organization operations in Iraq and then turn him over to Iraqi authorities in the coming days.

Officials say Americans are interrogating the detainee, who is expected to be turned over to Iraqi officials in the coming days.

The Special Forces raids expeditionary targeting force has been shrouded in secrecy in order to protect future missions.

U.S. Special Forces raids last year (2015) in Syria saw a senior Islamic State commander identified as Abu Sayyaf killed and his wife Umm Sayyaf taken in alive for interrogation.
