U.S. Special Forces And Somalia Commandos Arrest Senior Al-Shabaab Figures in Raid

U.S. and Somalia have intensified operations against Harakat Al Shabaab Al Mujahideen (HSM).

Latest reports from Somalia indicate that U.S. special operations forces and Somali Commandos in a night raid operation captured undisclosed number of high value Al-Shabaab figures.

According to SNA spokesman Abdisalam Aato, the allied teams killed other senior Al-Shabaab figures on Tuesday night raid on one of the militant’s camps.

The Somalia elite Commandos were part of a special unit known as Danab.

According to an official in the southern Somali town of Awdhiigle identified as Mohamed, the operations lasted for about 30 minutes involving three attack helicopters and infantry.

The raid comes just days after a series of airstrikes attacked an Al-Shabaab Raso training camp located approximately some 120 miles north of Mogadishu that left nearly 200 militants killed.

Al-Shabaab military operations spokesman, Sheikh Abdiaziz Abu Musab confirmed the raid on their camps on the group’s Twitter account saying foreign and allied forces were involved.

Somalia government has welcomes the latest collaboration with United States and other AU troops to defeat the terror group Al-Shabaab – Aato added.
