Somali Security Forces Foil an Attack Targeting Checkpoint in Mogadishu

Somali security forces managed to foil a major attack that targeted security manning a checkpoint in Mogadishu.

A loud explosion from a hand grenade was heard on Monday evening a few metres from a government security checkpoint at Ali Bolay area in Mogadishu’s Waberi district by assailants believed to be Al-Shabaab operatives.

Security cordoned off the scene and launched a manhunt for the suspects who immediately fled after their mission failed to hit the target.

No casualties were reported from the blast
