Puntland Military Executes 7 Convicted Al-Shabaab Operatives

A military court in Somalia’s Puntland State executed seven Al-Shabaab operatives convicted by the same court for planning and preparing a terror plot in Puntland.

Puntland military court chief Colonel Abdullahi Hersi Elmi confirmed the execution of the seven (7) terror figures.

Among those executed were five arrested in the region’s port town of Bosasso on April 26th in possession of explosives-making materials. The five were identified as Abbas Ibrahim Aden, 26, Ibrahim Mohamed Anshur, 20, Dhaqane Aden Abdi, 20, Nur Abdi Aden, 22, Aden Nur Aden, 27.

The five were onboard on a vehicle loaded with explosives-making materials which the security forces said was foiled suicide car bomb.

The two others were identified as Abduqaadir Mohamed Ali and Abdihakiim Hasan. The two were arrested in Galkayo by security forces following search at one of the security checkpoints in the city.

The execution comes amid tight security in Puntland cities as the region’s authorities on Thursday announced additional deployment of security forces on the main cities to tackle terror attacks.
