Al Shabaab Recruiting Agent, Alias Hassan Munene Arrested In Isiolo Town

Police officers from the Anti-Terror Police Unit (ATPU) in Isiolo have arrested and are interrogating a suspected member of the Somali-based Al Shabaab terrorist organization. The militant was arrested at the Olabule Estate in Isiolo Town after the officers receive reliable intelligence that he was recruiting members into the Al Shabaab in Isiolo and surrounding area. Additionally, he said to be monitoring recruits traveling to Somalia in the North-Eastern Region of Kenya.

The suspect, known as Shadrack Munene Kabaara alias Hassan Munene is said to be part of a terror network that has been operating in Isiolo. The Isiolo County Criminal Investigation Officer (CCIO) Raphael Barasa has urged the residents of Isiolo County to volunteer any and all information especially about suspicious activities, meetings and people in their neighborhood.

Last week 4 Burundians (Ntakaruntimara Bernard 41, Niyongere Yusuf 32, Nshimirimana Shady, 31 and Bisosa Abderauf, 20) were arrested on a 4 am bus headed to Moyale where they had planned into Somalia to join the terror organization.
