Turkish army continues with offensives in the country’s troubled southeast region. On Sunday 9th May 2016, the military killed 12 PKK terrorist in the ongoing counter-terrorism operations.
Through a statement, the Turkish General Staff confirmed on the ongoing military operations aimed at pacifying the southeast region saying eight terrorists were killed in Nusaybin, in the Mardin province, two in the neighboring Sirnak province, and two in the Tunceli province.
PKK is a listed terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and the EU. The military operations to counter PKK have been ongoing since mid March 2016.
The statement also added that 11 PKK terrorists were captured in the Cukurca district of the southeastern Hakkari province.
PKK militant’s armed campaigns against Turkey have seen more than 430 members of the security forces have been martyred and around 3,800 PKK terrorists killed in military operations.
