16th December 2015, Tullow Oil and Gas Exploration Company in Kenya announced some 102 metres exploration of net oil in two columns.
Tullow is exploring oil in Kenya’s Turkana County. According to Angus McCoss, exploration director at Tullow Oil, Etom -2 which encountered over 328 feet of net oil deposit is so far the best reservoir in the basin.
The reservoir is producing thick interval of quality oils, the director added.
The latest development underpins the company’s vision and options to explore the remaining resource base citing the company will consider it as part of future exploration programmes going forward.
Tullow is expected to move to Bock 12A in Kerio Valley Basin and start drilling by the end of this year.
The director cited that the stated Block has a significant potential and the plan is now to shoot more 3D in northern segment of Block 13T.
In Block 10BB, Tullow Oil has completed the Ngamia Extended Well Test and has produced approximately 38,000 barrels of oil.
There are at least five completed zones of Ngamia-8 and were all tested. The wells except the lower zones produced oil naturally.
Tullow’s Oil company enormous discoveries in the Lockichar basin, in the west of Kenya have put Kenya on the world map as an emerging onshore oil producer.
Tullow Oil discoveries have attracted a great deal in tune of millions of dollars in interests as audited by its partner, Africa Oil last month.
And they have no sold even a single litre
