The Kenya Tourism industry has received another boost in the recent attempts to revive the sector. The efforts have been given a push up the announcement of weekly flights by Condor Airlines’ a German airline from Munich to Mombasa.
Condor Airlines’ announcement couldn’t come at a better time as the tourism sector’s its peak season of the Wild beast migration.
The announcement comes a fortnight after the UK lifted travel banns against Kenyan coast destinations and Lufthansa, another German airline announced resumption of flights from Frankfurt to Nairobi in October.
Condor Airlines’ flight from Munich to Mombasa will be an additional to the three weekly flights from Frankfurt to Mombasa it is currently operating.
Phyllis Kandie, Tourism Cabinet Secretary observed that the increased flights will boost hotel occupancy and inject income into the ailing tourism sector that has been hardly hit by the security threats.
Condor Airlines’ has been the only chartered European airline operating flights to Mombasa and its increased number of flights will open business and investment opportunities between Kenya and Germany.
The announcement by Condor Airlines’ is blissful as it exposes the East African economic powerhouse to not only tourists and investors from Germany but from over 75 destinations in the world that the airline operates flights to. Besides being the only airline that didn’t cancel flights to Mombasa shows the commitment and unwavering good-faith in Kenya.
