Mahad Karate aka Abdirahim Mohamed Warsame Al-Shabaab Deputy Leader and Amniyaat Chief Killed by Kenya Army

Captured intelligence officials of the Al-Shabaab terror group, Amniyaat, report that the deputy leader of the terror group was killed by Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) snipers units (a tiny special forces unit inserted in Southern Somalia after the El-Adde attack targeting KDF-AMISOM contingent).

Mahad Karate maybe dead, but it’s not confirmed, Military Intelligence (DMI) Sources in Kenya report. According to one of the captured terrorists named Issa, an air strike in Saakow forced Karate and his lieutenants attempted to escape in a vehicle. It is then the vehicle he was in was shot in the wheels. It rolled and none of the occupants survived. The area has been cordoned since then. Issa was captured by KDF special forces outside Saakow village.

If true, KDF may have conducted a coordinated airstrike to smoke out the Al-Shabaab leader than activated commando units to hunt down the escaping terrorists. Obviously, the driver of the vehicle was shot and a wheel too, forcing the vehicle to roll. A nearby sniper unit then shot dead all the occupants then quickly disappeared after making the kills.

The terror group has neither confirmed nor denied the incident. Intelligence officials are still following up to verify the kills.

Mahad Karate, also known as Abdirahim Mohamed Warsame, played a key role in the Amniyat, the wing of al-Shabaab responsible for the recent attack on Garissa University College in Kenya that resulted in nearly 150 deaths. The Amniyat is al-Shabaab’s intelligence wing, which plays a key role in the execution of suicide attacks and assassinations in Somalia, Kenya, and other countries in the region, and provides logistics and support for al-Shabaab’s terrorist activities
