AMISOM confirmed the Somali based Shabaab al-Mujahideen Movement breached its Leego forward base and killed nearly three dozen Burundi army combatants manning the base.
According to OSINT Firm Site Intelligence the Shabaab al-Mujahideen Movement claimed seizing a military base of AMISOM forces in the area of Lego in Somalia’s Lower Shabelle region, and killing more than 50 Burundi soldiers.
However, intelligence reports from military intelligence shows that Shebaab terror group often gives higher death tolls than the actual BDA from military intelligence as part of their warfare strategy (Information warfare/propaganda).
Leego attack was conducted by orchestration of several attacks starting with a car bomb ramming into the base entrance, armed militants going past soldiers manning the entrance and a subsequent asault on the base by other militants.
Soldiers tried to stop the vehicle by firing at it but the militants breached the defense.
