Kenya Government will embark on training and arming local Chiefs in North Eastern region.
As the war against terror intensifies, Government officials and establishments in NEP are prime targets by terrorists.
NEP regional coordinator Ambassador Mahmoud Saleh speaking to the region provincial administrators stressed how the Government intends to deploy additional Kenya Police Reservists from the local communities to help in boosting security.
Increasing security installations on all important establishments such as, places of worship, government establishments, schools and hospitals, towns among other crowded areas.
Community Policing Training
The Kenya Government has reactivated efforts to curb terror threat and restore security in the volatile NEP region.
- Local administrators are also to be trained on basic guidelines on community policing strategies commonly now referred to as the ‘Nyumba Kumi Initiative’.
- Regular police patrols have also been intensified while border security has been beefed.
- Locals also urged to work with security agencies by providing any useful information to neutralize any potential threat.
- Changing of security routines should speedily also be enacted.
