as bombed and completely destroyed Somali militant Islamist group Harakat al-Shabaab al-Mujahideen largest base and training camp in Somalia.
The base is used to train foreign fighters, conduct logistics, and provide fighters with basic terrorism doctrines.
Other bases destroyed in the strategic aerial bombardment are Camp Sheikh Ismail which had over 300 fighters during the airborne operations, Camp Gondodwe, which houses more than 100 militants who often attack Kenyan border towns of Garissa, Mandera, and Wajir, Camp Bardheere which serves as a medical center and a forward terror base, and main training base in Gedo.
The destruction of these bases is a game changer and Al-Shabaab may not recover from the loss.
Kenya Military Intelligence assessments show that, the particular base in Gedo region is home to about 800 fighters. Most of them were in the camp together with their commanders when Kenya Military started conducting the operation.
This means there are massive causalities. We are talking about hundreds of militia dead.
The operation also targeted Bardheere terror bases used as a medical center for the Al-Shabaab.
This further blocked the Al-Shabaab militia from getting treatment and supplies.
The operation was meticulously planned. There was nowhere to hide throughout the night. Juba and Gedo will feel and enjoy peace after this. Military Intelligence of Kenya assesses.
The co-ordinated attack targeted all terror bases/camps near Mandera County, a North East frontier region of Kenya, bases/camps within 300km of Kenya border, and inside Gedo and Juba regions.

This “revenge” defeats the logic of kenyan troops deploying in Somalia, we went to protect ourselves from such attacks, not revenge when they happen. We have lost focus.
