Kenya’s Ministry of Interior issued a statement through its official Twitter Account announcing that it’d commision a counter-terrorism operation code-named #OperationLindaBoni whose principle objective is to destroy the Al-Hijra terror cells code named ‘Jaish Ayman’ that are deeply embedded in the dense forest.
Al-Hijra is the Al-Shabaab terror group branch in Kenya.
The operation has been going on. The Kenya army (KDF) has been conducting surveillance and reconnaisance while the National Intelligence Service (NIS) has been monitoring terror cells that manage supply routes and resources for the terror group.
The operation is multifaceted. It involves various arms of the broad Kenya Security services.
Harakat al-Shabaab al-Mujahideen branch in Kenya Al-Hijra had formed the Jaish Ayman militants unit which draws most of its elements from Kenyan youths.
The terrorists have been tasked with both enthrenching the terrorists ideology around Lamu and conducting attacks in Kenya.
Intelligence analysis by Strategic Intelligence shows that ,Harakat al-Shabaab al-Mujahideen objective through Al-Hijra’s ‘Jaish Ayman’ is to seize control of the predominantly Muslim province of Coast by targeting Christians and the tourism industry.
The group is responsible for attacks in Lamu, Garissa, and Mandera besides the hijacking of vehicles particularly “Khat” ferrying Toyota Land-Cruisers which the terrorists then customize as tactical vehicles for militancy and terrorism in Somalia.
In recent events, the terrorists increased the number of ideological moves in Lamu through intimidation of residents and radical preaching.

The operation was “launched” earlier this week and already victory has been declared despite no evidence to support such a claim!?! One infantry battalion and an unknown number of GSU to “cordon and sweep” Boni Forest will be hard put to accomplish very much; certainly not much in two days!

SIN. I think the government is not sincere with fight against al-shabab in Boni forest. The information has been leaked out and al-shabab have left.
