Al Shabaab Retakes Towns Of Lower Shabelle As AMISOM Realign To Launch Operation In The Area

Somalia based al Qaeda affiliate Harakat Al Shabaab Al Mujahedeen have retaken control of Yaqbaraweyne area in Lower Shabelle.The militants retook control after fierce hours’ long battle with the AMISOM troops.

According to OSINT, Kuntuwarey, Elsalini, Ambarey and Janele have also been recaptured by the militants shortly after the AMISOM troops left the areas.

The Somali Federal Government has however said that the towns retaken by the jihadists have very little strategic relevance and regardless of the seemingly re-energized militants the troops will drive them out.

AMISOM through their twitter page have however alerted the residents of the herein mentioned areas to stay calm as the troops were realigning in preparation for a major offensive that is purported to push the militants out of the areas they have retaken control over.
