AMISOM troops fighting Al Shabaab in Somalia have liberated the town of Tortorow in the lower Shabelle region of Somalia.
The troops destroyed several camps previously established by the Shebab.
OSINT reports indicate that the troops recovered food items and several other dangerous weaponry from the Al Shabaab training camp in Tortorow.
Al Shabaab had been using Tortorow as one of their main bases in Shabelle to train militants, launch massive attacks on Somali, especially along the Mogadishu-Burawe route.
AMISOM troop’s intervention to liberate Somalia off Al Shabaab has been met with various challenges from village elders. These elders have been working with Al Shabaab as their informants with a promise to be taken care of by the Mujahideen.

Some of the well-known village elders especially on Shabelle have been hit during Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) airstrikes, leaving the Al Shabaab with no option but to regroup and restructure their operations.
This has seen the formation of Al Shabaab new unit, “Abu Zubeyr” which has been assigned to massively attack in honor of their former Emir.
The unit has also been charged with launching attacks during this Holy month of Ramadhan against AMISOM troops as gathered from a radio station owned by the militants.
