Al-Shabaab Terrorists With Military Grade RDX Explosives Arrested in Kenya’s During a Synchronized Inter-Agency CT Operation

During the operation, 2 terrorists heading to Nairobi’s Village Market shopping mall were successfully arrested preempting the massive terror attack

Military Grade Highly Explosive RDX and C4 Explosives Found

The Kenya Security Services officers intercepted the 2-cells who were carrying military grade explosive material RDX, ammunition, and electronic devices used in detonation of IED’s.

The bomb they were planning to detonate was a massive bomb whose capability using the combined explosives (RDX-C4 or RDX-TNT) could have produced a blast forty times greater than that of a devastating car-bomb.

The highly explosive RDX-Type explosive material recovered is similar to the one recovered from Iranians charged with terrorism in Kenya and currently serving a jail term.

Declassified Kenya intelligence reports show that the Iranians planned to use the RDX for “attacks on Israel, US, UK and Saudi Arabian targets.

Strategic Intelligence Service reports show that the 2 terrorists were cells under Commander Adan Garar who was killed in the late afternoon of 12th March 2015 in a drone airstrike.

Intelligence further reports that the tow associates of Westgate mastermind Adan Garar are from Gedo region of Somalia bordering Kenya. Adan Garar was also from the same region.

Massive Mall Blast

Based on a Berthelot approximation the explosion of an RDX-C4 or RDX-TNT bomb makes the gas expand at about 26,400 feet per second (8,050 meters per second), applying a huge amount of force to everything in the surrounding area.
