Al-Shabaab Sheikh Said Swaleh Awadh, Arrested En-route Somalia Kenya Anti-Terrorism Operation

Sheikh Said Swaleh Said Awadh, a member of the Al-Shabaab terror group has been arrested by Kenya security forces.

Awadh was arrested as he tried to cross into Somalia.

Intelligence reports show Sheikh Said Swaleh Awadh was a close ally of Rashid Tumbo Kufungwa.

Awadh was on the run. He was escaping from the security forces and hoped to cross over to Somalia and join the Al-Shabaab terror group.

There is no where to run, Kenya Security Intelligence chiefs have vowed.

Killing of Sheikh Mohamed Indriss

Both planned the murder of Moderate Muslim Cleric Sheikh Mohammed Idris, who served as chairman of the Council of Imams and Preachers of Kenya.

Sheikh Idris was at the forefront in the fight against the radicalization of the youth. This prompted terror group Harakat al-Shabaab al-Mujahideen to commission his killing through Sheikh Said Swaleh Awadh and Rashid Tumbo Kufungwa.

Take Over of Mosques in Mombasa

Intelligence reports by Strategic Intelligence Service shows that Kenya and foreign intelligence services were aware Sheikh Said Swaleh Said Awadh was part of the radical clerics instructed by terror group Harakat al-Shabaab al-Mujahideen to intimidate and kill moderate clerics besides take over Mosques in Mombasa and the rest of the coastal region.

Al-Shabaab terrorists led the killing of 4 very prominent Muslim Clerins throughout year 2012 and 2013 in a bid to take over mosques and convert them to radicalization centers as per the Al-Qaeda strategy of indoctrinating the youths en-mass.

Kenya Military Intelligence has increased border surveillance and reconnaissance operations in recent past to stymie exit and entry of militants.

During the weekend, 3 women recruited by Al-Mujahiroun were arrested heading to Somalia in a border counter-terrorism operation advised by the Directorate of Military Intelligence.
