A man was arrested at Moi International Airport on Tuesday for issuing a terrorist threat to a Kenya Airways jet which was preparing to fly to Nairobi.
Shafi Abdallahi Dirie who caused havoc that led to the delay of the flight was also aboard the Jambo Jet KQ 8603 that was ready for takeoff from Moi International Airport.
Dirie threatened to blow up the Jambo Jet KQ 8603, according to police who hauled him before the court minutes after the incident.
Shafi was charged with causing a disturbance and unlawfully imperiling the safety of the Kenya Airways jet and passengers by behaving disorderly and threatening that he would explode the craft.
Police said Shafi fought with cabin crew when they tried to remove him from the plane.

At about 10.50 in the morning, police said Shafi boarded the plane that was bound for Nairobi and while aboard, threatened to blow up the plane.
Kenyans have been warned on Wednesday against issuing terror statements such as those on the Kenya Airways jet, and false terror alerts that are bound to rouse the public into unnecessary upheaval.
Intelligence experts say terrorists could be using such messages to distract police and intelligence teams on their planned attacks in the country.

Kenyans are advised to instead, be on the lookout of any suspicious activities or persons and only rely on messages from official sources.
Kenyan government is in the final stages of establishing a central Terrorism Public Alert System, the only department that will be allowed to communicate relevant messages for national preparation and planning against such attacks.
