The terror attack on Garissa University by the Al Shabaab militia group has made a louder awakening call in Kenya’s security system and measures in the fight against terrorism. In response, two helicopters have been transferred to the Ruiru base, the headquarters of the Recce Company of the General Service Unit to be used by the Recce Squad Commandos.
The Recce Company of the General Service Unit have since been applauded for ending the Garissa Massacare siege despite the challenges the team faced slightly before the operation.
The two choppers which are now on standby are to be used by the elite Recce commandos as the team waits for more choppers. These will help the team in facilitating their quick response in tackling crime.
Recently, there have been allegations that Kenyans lost more lives due to the delay in deployment of the Recce Squad commandos to Garissa on time.
Air Wing Commandant Colonel (rtd) Rogers Mbithi confirmed that his team is now on a round-the-clock standby at Ruiru and ready for response once they receive instructions.
The aircrafts are two Bell helicopters, one belonging to the police and the other to the Kenya Forest Service. These shall help in deployment efficiency as the team waits for more additional airplanes.
The Inspector-General of Police Joseph Boinnet gave this order following the Garissa attack in which 142 students, a soldier, two police officers and three watchmen were killed at the university on April 2 2015.

this goverment is very lazy in terms of reasoning,what is the cost of two brand new choppers to be bought for the brave recce compared to what you loot from us?? sometimes i regret why i was born a kenyan!!!!!!!
The question is if u give them KFS chopper how do u expect the kfs perform their mandate efficiently in terms of environmental conversation? Won’t it leave a vacuum?
