Kenya has embarked on the process of compiling a list of people suspected to have joined Somali militant group al Shabaab in response to the recent Garissa attack.
The country has promised that this process will also pen down all the financiers and sympathizers of the radical group that has staged several attacks in different parts of the country.
Youths who are missing and suspected of having joined al Shabaab are also going down the long list that will aid in hunting them down and bringing them to book.
This operation is in response to last week’s attack by al Shabaab on a university in Garissa, in which 148 people died.
Leaders from Garissa, Mandera and Wajir in close coordination with security officials are expected to help draw up the list, the officials said.
The operation goes hand in hand with Kenya’s security operations in Somalia in which most of the radicalists’ hideouts and training camps have been brought down in shambles.
Among these is the Somali militant Islamist group Harakat al-Shabaab al-Mujahideen largest base and training camp in Somalia, which Kenyan troops have bombed and completely destroyed.
