National security permanently protects the cherished values, beliefs and aspirations of Kenyans and the existence and sustenance of a democratic political system whose institutions of governance guarantees the unity and well-being of Kenyans and Kenya.
The fundamental elements of Kenya’s national security are first and foremost, Socio-Political Stability. The other elements are territorial integrity, economic stability, cultural cohesiveness, ecological balance and external peace.
Socio-political stability ensures that peace and harmony exist among all Kenyans. This creates a strong foundation for Kenyans to engage in nation building under a constitution which fosters the rule of law and upholds the democratic freedoms of its citizen. Regrettably, several lobby groups have propped up which use the constitution to undermine two fundamental pillars of Kenya, its symbol of unity – the government – and national security.
Kenya currently faces a low-scale but lethal terrorist insurgency, and this has forced the GoK to reorient its priorities towards defending the national security. This reorientation unfortunately involves a small measure of curtailment of several freedoms for the greater good of the nation. However, several lobby groups disguising themselves as civil society organizations, human right defenders and non-governmental organizations have taken upon themselves the duty of undermining Kenya’s sovereignty and national security by working with foreign actors and ill-intended multinational organizations to shame and discredit GoK and Kenyans in general.
Some of these lobby groups have acted as terrorist proxies by revealing confidential state secrets to non-state actors. Others undermine counter-terrorism efforts by their incessant criticism, denigration and vilification of Kenyan security forces but nonetheless remain silent when Kenya security officers get killed or injured in their line of duty. Their loud silence has led to valid speculation that their lobbying efforts are only geared towards serving certain interests which are incompatible with the common interests of Kenya. The GoK has decided to counter such unhelpful lobbying by deregistering such lobbies regardless of their fancy names. This is done in order to defend national security and ensure that Kenya remains an undivided, strong and respectable nation.
