The government of South Sudan has deployed its soldiers to guard the United Nations offices in Bor, the capital of the state of Jonglei.
The deployment of troops to the UNMISS compound came after the facility was attacked by men who had disguised themselves as protesters.
The men forced their way into the UN compound and opened fire on internally displaced people who have taken refuge in the compound.
The disguised protesters launched an attack using assault riffles and rocket propelled grenades killing 50 people and wounding 60 others.
2 UN peacekeeper were injured in the attack in Bor.
Intelligence gathered by Strategic Intelligence shows that the UN compound in Bor is home to about 5000 Lou-Nuer tribe refugees.
These refugees were heard by the locals who are mainly Dinka’s celebrating the capture Bentiu, the capital of the Unity State which is an oil production zone.
These celebrations angered the Dinka’s who planned a retaliatory attack on the Lou-Nuer refugees in the UNMISS compound.
