South Africa has expelled three Rwandan’s who are intelligence operatives based at the Kigali Embassy in Jo-Burg.
In retaliation, Kigali expelled 6-South African embassy officials as the spying rings of both countries keep checks on each other.

Rwanda spy ring has successfully carried missions in South Africa, eliminating dissidents/exiles suspected to be sponsoring opposition in Rwanda.

A recent attack targeted Lt Gen Kayumaba Nyamwasa.
Kayumba Nyamwasa is an exiled critic of Rwandan President Paul Kagame.
Armed Rwandan Covert operations intelligence agents entered Kayumba’s house in Jo-Berg,found him away and took a computer CPU among other crucial documents in his custody.
Lt Gen Kayumba Nyamwasa and Director of Intelligence Patrick Karegeya were both senior rebel military officers in President Paul Kagame’s rebel movement in 1994.
They were instrumental in planning and execution of preemptive strategies that ended the 1994 genocide in Rwanda.
However both Mr Karegeya and Gen Nyamwasa founded the Rwanda National Congress, an opposition movement against Paul Kagame’s government.
