A Puntland military court in the semi-autonomous Somali regional state of Puntland handed Al-Shabaab operatives to life imprisonment after finding them guilty of being linked with the Al-Qaeda aligned Islamist militant group Al-Shabaab.
The regional military court chief, Abdirahman Isse Hussein, handed over the sentence to Ismail Abdullahi Ibrahim and Hassan Kulow Ibrahim based on gathered evidence that proved beyond reasonable double that the two were involved in Al-Shabaab terrorist activities.
Another suspected terror operative identified as Mohamed Ibrahim was sent to juvenile jail where he will be detained until his trial starts at the civil court.
The three young operatives were nabbed by Puntland security forces following an attack claimed by Al-Shabaab on August 21 this year in the Galgala Mountains in the Bari region, Puntland, Somalia.
According to the court, the convicted youths, all under the age of 20, were trained in the southern regions of Somalia and then transported to Puntland to carry out killings and bombings.
Al-Shabaab and pro-ISIS operating in northern Somalia, especially in Bari region of Puntland have often clashed in an effort to maintain control of the mountainous region.
