The Federal government of Somalia has been blamed for bolstering terrorists to kill key opposition figures in the Horn of Africa Nation.
A leading opposition party on Thursday 5th December 2019 issued a statement blaming the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) of initiating a plot to assassinate opposition figures by using terrorist means.
In a statement, the Wadajir Party accused the Federal Government of Somalia of giving a platform to detained a Al-Shabaab Islamist figure, Hassan Dahir Aweis, to issue a call for the killing of party leader, Abdirahman Abdishakur Warsame.
The Wadajir Party strongly condemned strongly the path being taken by the FGS to bolster terrorist groups. According to the statement, Somali government provided Hassan Dahir Aweis, a leading terrorist in the Somalia, a platform to declare Wadajir Party leader Abdirahman Abdishakur Warsame an infidel. Comparing the Wadajir leader to Salman Rushdi, Aweis issued a fatwa of death against Warsame.
The statement noted that Aweis is in prison for terrorism and as such cannot send any message without help from the government.
Recent remarks by Warsame in which he criticised religious scholars over women rights have sparked controversy, with some accusing him of disrespecting the religion. However, Warsame has so far denied the accusations.
Wadajir party particularly blamed NISA chief, Fahad Yasin having links to the latest predicaments saying he maintains links with Aweis, the detained terror operative.
