Pyongyang has reiterated that it has no choice but bomb South Korea since live drills will be indicative of direct provocation.
Such a contingency would obviously cause a preemptive retaliation by the heavily armed and well-mechanized South Korea.
The situation aggravates the tense Korean peninsula emotions and points towards a possible war.
North Korea has hinted war with Seoul and even promised to make it a nuclear standoff if provoked and attacked preemptively by Seoul.
This is disturbing but the South is not threatened by these remarks.
Army generals have promised to go on with the live drill on the Yeonpyeong Island slated for December 18-21.
Pyongyang shelled the Island on November and got away with it.
The weekend drills by South Korea will be highly anticipated and watched by the Asian geopoliticians with US, China, and Japan holding their breaths for the confrontation.
